Salcombe Devon Kingsbridge Estuary. Summer holiday memories. A commissioned painting of one family’s ‘happy place.’ From the hill top village of East Portlemouth, looking across the Kingsbridge Estuary  to the harbor town of Salcombe. Painted seaside houses and sailing boats, within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Salcombe Yawl sailing boats leave East Portlemouth beach in the foreground. The Salcombe river taxi alights between the legendary Ferry Inn, and Harbour Hotel. The Kingsbridge Ferry travels up the estuary, passing Salcombe Lifeboat Station and Whitestrand Quay.

The dry stone wall at the top of the hill is tangled with ivy and wild flowers; pennywort, red valerian and ivy-leaved toadflax. The wall is a favourite meeting place. The four seagulls on the wing represent the family who have been visiting this spot for over 2 decades.
