Coloured charcoal and pastel landscape drawing of Brookbottom, Derbyshire in summer. In this piece I wanted to give the feeling of being in the country and looking out across to the city in the distance. The picture shows The Fox Inn in the hamlet or Brookbottom at the bottom of the hill. Over the dry stone wall past the grazing cows and across the valley the distant cityscape of Manchester can be seen. Beyond Manchester is the mast on Winter Hill, and to the left between two hills, is Fiddlers Ferry Power Station in Liverpool. The bench in the foreground is in memory of a former resident of Brookbottom, and provides a welcome place for walkers and cyclists to take in the view. This drawing was done as a commission. Part of my New Mills art prints collection.
